  • A Message from Jeff Wimmer - Indoor Cycling Heaven July 4th 2012

So that’s a little tour of our 15,000 square foot warehouse in Hawthorne here and I wanna talk to you about why you should call me. My name is Jeff Wimmer. I’m the owner of StudioCycles and I’ve been doing indoor group cycles for close to 20 years. That’s after 15 years in the bicycle industry. Racing professionally, building 1000s and 1000s of bicycles. 1000s and 1000s of indoor group cycles. Tens of thousands, an estimated over 100,000 indoor group cycles in the last 15-20 years. I ride and tune every bike. I consult with manufacturers. I worked in the retail industry in the bicycle business for over 10 years. I understand people. I understand how to interact with people and figure out what it is they’re looking for and what best suits their needs. And we are not a fitness equipment company. We are clearly an indoor cycling company. In fact we are the indoor cycling company because we’re the only company in the world that does professional level refurbishing with lifetime warranties for consumers on the top most popular major brands. We’re the only company in the world when you where when you buy a bike, we don’t drop ship the bike. We don’t process your credit card and send you a box. We do process your credit card and send you a box but our box is double boxed and over packaged and shipped UPS and not freight All our new bikes are torn apart. Completely gone through and optimized. We do so many corrections on brand new bikes out of the box whether they’re Keiser or FreeMotions or Schwinns or Star Tracs and quite simply no one else does that. I don’t think they would know where to start. But being a cyclist and being a guy who has taught a lot of Spinning classes and my ass is on some sort of bikes 5 or 6 days a week – I know what most people on the planet don’t know before I speak to you. Before I put a bike in a box. Before we put bikes in clubs. We just finished installing bikes at the IDEA world fitness convention in San Diego today for Star Trac. Schwinn who I’ve done professional level installs for and consulted on their bikes for years and years and years opted for a cheaper installation on this trade show and I’m interested to find out how that turns out. It’s a company that’s been around less than a year but they beat my price by a few bucks which is just mind boggling to me. And it’s a, I take it personal because I take a lot of pride in what we do. But you as a consumer or you as a club owner, I am an absolute invaluable source for you to talk to and to buy your bikes from whether you’re buying a bike from your home or you’re buying 50 bikes to put into your club. I want to invite you to call me directly. Like I said I’m the owner of the company I ride and tune every bike I sell and there aren’t many people on the free world on this planet who know more about these bikes than I do and what works best for different applications. You can call me 10AM to 10PM, 7 days a week - 310-664-1375. 888-909-BIKE or 818-470-2204. And I know what subjects to breach and what questions to ask and I’m most likely to have an answer to your questions. I know what bike is best for runners in recovery, for brand new club, for a household with a tall guy and petite woman or maybe people that aren’t in great shape or who are on limited budget. I can tell you why buying a fluffed up low ball, low priced bike from a used fitness equipment company probably will be a big mistake. I can tell you why buying your brand new bikes from us is a huge benefit. So with that being said I wanna thank you for taking the time to watch this video. I do a lot of videos on YouTube but I take a lot of pride in what I do. I wanna talk to you. I wanna sell you your new bike and I wanna talk to you so that you know why. I’m Jeff Wimmer from StudioCycles. Thanks for watching this video and best of luck to you on your road to health and fitness.

  • Buying Used Spinner Bikes Orange County LIFETIME Warranty

Hi, I’m Jeff Wimmer from StudioCycles and Studio-Cycles.com and in this short YouTube video I wanna talk about buying a new Spinner model in the Orange county area. We are an authorized Spinning dealer. We have the only brick and mortar retail stores in the world. We have a store in beautiful Laguna Niguel, California off Crown Valley Parkway in the 3 Flags center. The number there is 949-581-BIKE. The store’s open Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays and it’s run by a certified spinning instructor. I you wanna consult with me on bike, you call me directly 888-909-BIKE. 310-664-1375. Cell Phone is 818-470-2204. Beware in the San Diego Orange County area of bike brokers. These are guys that have websites and they have pictures of somebody else’s warehouse on their websites or in their ads and they’re basically just going to this giant warehouse for used fitness equipment with some spinning bikes and some indoor group cycles and they’re selling you the bike. Beware of the term cleaned and serviced. We’re the only company in the world when you buy a brand new bike we tear it apart before we build it. We do lifetime warranties on our bikes and no one in the free world has the experience that I have of almost 20 years of working on just bikes. We’re not a fitness equipment company. We’re an indoor cycling company and I personally ride and tune every single bike I sell without exception. Call me directly. Don’t get hooked into the used bike BS from fitness equipment brokers and beware of the term cleaned and serviced. That’s a term that used fitness equipment company say, “Oh! Yeah, it’s been cleaned and serviced.” Absolute BS. When we get used bikes if they’re 3 months old or 5 years old, we tear them down to the bare frames, go entirely through them. It’s not gratuitous. It’s not a fluff job. It’s from the inside out and we do lifetime warranties on our bikes. You cannot beat that with a stick. If it’s a brand new bike we do pro-level building where 99% of the companies on the planet Earth, they build their new bikes like furniture from IKEA. How fast can we bolt this thing together. Not the case here. You can see from our warehouse here that this is an indoor cycling warehouse. We do indoor cycles here. And you know being an absolute authority on indoor group cycles and consulting with the biggest companies in the world, mean the only official technical support for Spinning doesn’t help. Or I’m sorry, doesn’t hurt our credibility. So if you’re buying a bike for your home or you’re buying new bikes for your club, call me and talk to me directly. Visit us online at Studio-Cycles.com. I’m Jeff Wimmer from StudioCycles and I wanna thank you for taking the time to watch this video.

  • Freemotion S11.9 Indoor Cycles Stages Direct Power ?!?

Hi, this is Jeff Wimmer from StudioCycles and Studio-Cycles.com and in this short YouTube video I wanna talk about the FreeMotion stages computer and their claim that they have first indoor bike with direct power measurement. Now I’m not an expert in wattage or power output. I grew up racing bicycles. I worked in the bicycle industry for 15-20 years. I raced professionally in my teens and early 20s and I’m considered by many to be the foremost expert in indoor cycles and from a technical perspective I write technical manuals. I’ve done 6 manuals in 10 years that are considered the Bibles in the industry. I’m the only official technical support to Spinning in the world, I mean outside VIP technical consultant to Schwinn and to Star Trac. I began to be a consultant with FreeMotion but I’ve backed off from FreeMotion just because of inconsistencies that I saw and I didn’t like the way that the bikes were coming out of the box. But this, back to the subject, this is a FreeMotion S11.9 and it has the stages computer on it. And FreeMotion claims to have direct power measurement. Now if you’re familiar with PowerTap. PowerTap is a wheel that professional cyclists will use on their bike and it really is direct power measurement. It comes from ground zero, from the hub of the bike and it’s very very very accurate. These are the Keiser M3s and the Keiser M3 Pluses with the new handlebar which some people find very odd. But Keiser is the first company to implement a wattage display on their bikes. Hats off to them for that. And Schwinn has come along 3 years ago with their Empower console and it gives wattage display as well. The Schwinn wattage display is based on basically simple mathematics. The altitude of the magnet basket, RPMs etc. It’s not direct power measurement. Now FreeMotion, they, you’ll see a lot of their ads that says the first bike with direct power measurement. But here’s the thing. If you look at the direct power measurement, they’re measuring from the left side of the crank arm only. If they measured from both cranks and they use a strain gauge in this little black box – my guess is they put it on this side because it’s much cheaper to engineer than trying to build into this side of the bike. Now to get direct power measurement from a unit like this you would have to measure from both sides of the crank arm. Strain gauge on the left. Strain gauge on the right. So with that being said get on the bike and we’ll engage the drivetrain – power up the computer – lot of folks are confused by the fact that the first thing to pop-up is USB which doesn’t mean anything. It will function and wake up. Now if you passed the warm up phase then it gives you your data and if you engage the magnet basked you’ll see that the watts start to show. Now I am pedaling with both legs I’ve got minimum magnetic resistance applied. Now if I switch and I just pedal with the left leg the watts shoot up significantly even though it’s one leg. Now if I switch to the right leg you’ll notice the watts goes to zero. Now doing anything funky or weird but direct power measurement means that technically this computer should be showing wattage no matter what side I pedal on. Now going back to both legs and you’ll see that the watts start to show again. And my perception of this is you know Keiser is perceived wattage. It’s based on RPM and how much magnetic resistance is applied. Schwinn…their magnetic resistance is perceived. I mean they have stages and they have a USB port in their computer and it’s perceived wattage. And both the Keiser and the Schwinn, I think for most mortal men and women, it’s fine if you’re professional athlete, say you’re Lance Armstrong or Levi Leipheimer – wattage being down to the half kilowatt or thousandth of a kilowatt might be helpful. But to market your computer on your bike as being the first indoor cycle with direct power measurement, I believe in my perception an accurate marketing statement would be the first indoor cycle with direct power measurement on the left side, on the left crank arm. So if you’re a one-legged person, in other words if you’re missing your right leg, I think this would be extremely helpful in terms of direct power measurement. But I don’t see any advantage whatsoever to directly measuring power just on one side of the bike and clearly in this video you can see when I’m pedaling with my right leg where there is no strain being recorded on the crank arm, the wattage meter goes to zero. So another one of those small dynamics that might prove to be helpful in choosing the right bike. Now what makes us different from everybody else is that we’re the only company in the world where we pro-build our bikes. When you buy a bike online 99.9, in fact everybody else, I don’t know anybody else who does what we do. You buy a bike anywhere else they process your credit card, they grab one of these, they put it on a truck, they send it to you. If you have an issue you call that company, they tell you to call the manufacturer. Okay. If you buy a bike from us we take it out of the box, we tear it apart, we go entirely through the bike. I ride and tune every single bike without exception and then the bike is carefully partially disassembled and over packaged and double boxed. Here’s a group of bikes here that are going out. We double box everything. We over package everything. And we also do lifetime part replacement on most every new commercial bike we sell to a consumer. And we also do lifetime part replacement on our certified pre-owned bikes like this black, custom black Star Trac Spinner NXT. There’s a pink AC Performance. There’s some custom white NXTs. There is a custom red NXT. So we are clearly a cut above everybody else on the planet Earth in the free world. If you wanna talk to me directly about 1 bike, 20 bikes, 50 bikes – you call me 7 days a week 10AM to 10PM. 888-909-BIKE. 310-664-1375 or 818-470-2204. I wanna thank you for taking the time to watch this video and best of luck to you on your road to health and fitness.

  • 2012 Star Trac Spinner Blade 7190 w/ LIFETIME warranty

Hi, I’m  Jeff Wimmer from StudioCycles and Studio-Cycles.com and in this short YouTube video I wanna talk about the new 2012 Star Trac Spinner Blade model 7190. Now Star Trac has been manufacturing the Spinner series bikes for years and years now and the NXT which they released in 2005 has been sort of the top in the Star Trac lineup for a number of years and for 2012 the NXT was aluminum. It’s bomb proof. You see it in a lot of clubs. For 2012 they changed the NXT. The NXT which is here is now steel. They’ve added the fore-aft handle bar and threadless pedals and morse taper bottom bracket. But the new top dog in the Star Trac lineup is now the Star Trac Spinner Blade And the Spinner Blade, it looks it’s been carved out of a solid block of aluminum. It looks like it’s a CNC machine from like a 100 pound block of aluminum. It really is a beautiful bike. It’s very stiff. It has a very low Q factor which not a lot of companies address. Q factor is a distance between the pedals and a lot of indoor group cycles have a Q factor like an Appaloosa. In terms of hip flexors and knee alignment and ankles, Q factor is important. Josh Taylor who is the face of Spinning and has been close to 10 years since Johnny G’s departure. He was a professional cyclist on a ride it cycling team and he had heavy influence in the design of the Blade and the implementation of a correct ergonomic applied Q factor. So the new Star Trac Spinner Blade which is here – this is a badass bike. It has a threadless pedal system so you can only use the Star Trac pedals. It has a fore-aft handlebars which gives the end user a nice amount of adjustment. It has a lot more adjustment than the past models. It comes with a SPD basket pedal and again the way this bike feels when it’s tuned and optimized and drivetrain is treated with aggressive inertia is very impressive We’re the only company in the world where when you buy a brand new bike we pull it out of the box, we tear it apart, we do an optimization, tuning, aligning, tensioning. I ride and tune every single bike that goes through my company without exception and then we extend the warranty. We do our exclusive lifetime part replacement policy. So the new Star Trac Spinner Blade is the new Star Trac top dog. The Blade again is the model 7190 and if you have questions about these bikes – call anybody on the internet and try to get the owner of the company with any kind of a knowledge base. We are an indoor cycling specific company. We’re the only company in the world that does the pro level pre-building, pre-tuning, over packaging, lifetime email and phone tech support and lifetime part replacement for our consumers. If you’re buying 1 Blade or 50 Blades you call me directly. My telephone numbers - 888-909-BIKE. 310-664-1375. Cell Phone 818-470-2204 and you can talk to me directly about anything related to the bike you’re considering buying. And if you take a look around my warehouse, you’ll see this place – this is serious business here. What we do here – the amount of bikes we keep in stock – no one, no one even comes close to what we do here at StudioCycles. We have a lot of bikes in stock. We keep 400-500 bikes in stock at all times. We have a 100 foot workbench with 12 stations. We have custom bikes up over the top of our work areas and we’re the specialists. We’re not a fitness equipment company. We’re an indoor cycling specific company. I have the only 2 brick and mortar specific retail stores in the world – one in Orange County, one in West Los Angeles. Hopefully with more on the way. I have written all the tech manuals in the indoor cycling industry in the last 20 years which are considered the Bibles for these bikes. And I ride and tune the bikes and I’ve taught 1000s of classes. And my ass is on some sort of a bike seat 5-6 days a week minimum. And if you want the perfect bike and you don’t want a meat grinder or the bike that lacks inertia then you call me and you talk to me about what your application is, how many people are using it, what you’re considering. And call me if you think you found that great deal and you’re not sure about it. So, I’m Jeff Wimmer from StudioCycles and Studio-Cycles.com. 818-470-2204. 310-664-1375. Cell Phone is 818-470-2204. Best of luck to you on your road to health and fitness and wanna thank you for taking the time to watch this video.
